When data is input into a computer, it is stored in a unique binary pattern. Computers and all digital devices can only understand the binary design of 0’s and 1’s. When new data is input into your computer, a new binary pattern is created on your hard drive.

Suppose you want to save an ‘A’ letter to your computer. For this, the computer will convert it to a binary number. Your computer will store the number 01000001 to save ‘A.’; if you wanted to save the number ‘B’ to a computer, you would save the number 01000010 on your computer for ‘B.’ But now your computer will not be able to save that ‘A’ letter directly.

Now, look at the binary numbers of ‘A.,’ Where 0 has six numbers, and 1 has two numbers. So, here’s the 8-bit, where each 0 and 1 is called a bit. That means there are 8 bits = 1 byte of data stored here. We need 1 byte of space to keep the ‘A’ text on our memory card, and this text occupies 1 byte of space on your computer.

Suppose you want to delete this text from a computer. Now, what will happen to that writing?

Even if you delete that text from the hard drive, the computer will not delete it from the hard drive. Instead, the file will delete only the address, and you will no longer be able to see the file. Once you delete the file, your hard drive will only hide it from you. Since the address of that data is deleted, the deleted computer operating system can no longer see that data. Due to that, the computer declares that 1 byte of information is empty. However, that place is not empty.

How is the new file stored there if no data is deleted from the hard drive? Indeed this is a good question.

Suppose you want to save the letter ‘B’ to your hard drive. Now, how to save it to your computer hard drive? The computer will convert the letter to a binary number to keep the letter ‘B’ on your hard drive. Therefore, ‘B’ will be saved by converting to binary number 0100010, where ‘A’ was held by the binary number 01000001.

As I said, deleting a file from a hard drive does not delete it. So, in this case, my deleted A-letter binary number is not deleted either. Instead, its binary number is 01000001, which is still stored on the hard drive and declares my hard drive empty.

If I want to save the letter B, the number 0100010 will be replaced by 01000001. That is, the current binary numbers will go and sit on the previously deleted binary numbers. Changing the pattern of binary numbers makes it possible to collect new data. In this case, you only need to change the position of the previous binary numbers. And thus, any new data is stored on your hard drive.

And this way, the old data is completely erased from the hard drive as more information is overwritten on one data. Memory cards work by putting one binary code on top of another. And that’s why we can recover any data from the computer. If you delete any data from a memory card, it can be retrieved through various recovery software since it is not deleted. But, after deleting data, deleted data will not recover the previous data if any data is input again. Because other data has already taken place in that place, the last binary part has been deleted.

After deleting any data from your hard drive or memory card, it is only possible to recover your data if you do not input any more data. And if you input new data on the memory card, the new pattern will sit on the previously deleted binary pattern. Then, the existence of previously deleted information is completely deleted.
